Guide Profile
Daryn Hiltunen grew up with a farming background in Tongaat and then the KwaZulu/Natal Midlands.
It was here that he first learnt about nature and its rich abundance. During school he belonged to various nature clubs and fishing clubs. After completing school he studied and obtained his National Diploma in Nature Conservation, performing his cadetship with the then Natal Parks Board (Ezemvelo KZNWildlife) in Zululand and the Drakensberg. He then was appointed a permanent Officer in Charge of Mkhomazi Section of the Drakensberg World Heritage Site (Maloti Drakensberg World Heritage Site). He has worked in conservation for more than fifteen years in various Government Nature Reserves as well in Private Nature Reserves from the Drakensberg, Zululand to Weenen incorporating grasslands, wetlands, bushveld and Big Game. It his love and appreciation for conservation that lead him to become a registered Guide in 2002 as it is his passion for wildlife that he would like to impart with his clients.
I look forward to planning your tour to suite your needs and make your tour a memorable one of this great country that we call South Africa.
